Abstract This study aims to determine the effectiveness of predict observe explain (POE) learning methods and time token Arends on ability understand concepts elementary school students in social studies subjects. research is a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The population this were 40 class IV SDN 4 Cakranegara. Simple random sampling technique was used treatment class. Class IVa treated method IVb method. tested 10 pretest questions posttest questions. Data analysis performed using normality test, homogeneity normalized gain, paired t-test, independent MANOVA test. significance level 0.05. results showed that use POE not effective increasing concept understanding for grade Cakaranegara
